SANDY & HER KITTENS – SAVED FROM CERTAIN DEATH (October 2024)

Sandy and her four kittens were brought to us after being discovered by a dog walker, deep in woodland.  Despite being called back by its owner, the dog wouldn’t come and this is only reason this beautiful little family were discovered and saved from certain death.

They had been taped up in a box in such a way that they could never escape, and taken to woodland where it was clearly hoped they wouldn’t be discovered, and would slowly starve to death. The unforgivable cruelty of this action is thankfully beyond understanding for the vast majority of us and certainly doesn’t belong in any kind of civilised society. There is never an excuse for animal cruelty.

They were hungry, scared, confused and dehydrated on their arrival at our centre, so we checked them over and quickly settled them into a cosy den, feeding them a little and often whilst they recovered from their ordeal.

We estimated that the young mother was around 1 year old and her kittens were around 10 weeks old.  They were all friendly and they thankfully made an amazing recovery.

Pretty little Mum Sandy, a soft apricot girl, adored her four kittens - three adorable ginger boys called Tango, Jaffa and Pepper and a stunning harlequin tortie girl called Papaya.

Sandy, Papaya and Pepper have already found homes, and little Tango and Jaffa are still waiting.

We give thanks for the lovely dog who was inquisitive and instinctively wouldn’t come when called, and the kind owner who didn’t just walk away, for the lives of these five innocent creatures. Without their intervention the outcome would have been too horrific to consider.

This time, it is a happy ending – five little lives ableto move on to forever homes, filled with love and kindness.

It is with a huge sigh of relief that we say thank goodness.
